FAQ'S

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

This will mostly likely be the first time a couple will have booked a wedding photographer so it's likely you will have plenty of questions or ideas. I have done my best to compile a list of frequently asked questions which should give you an idea of wedding photography as a whole, and my personal take on certain aspects of the day, what to expect and how it will play out.

There will always be other things so if you have anything else; no matter how big, small just pop me an email via my contact page and I will endeavour to get back to you just as soon as possible.

• HOW DO WE SECURE THE DATE?

I ask for a small deposit equalling 15% of your total package cost - This is a non-refundable deposit and is deducted from your final balance.

• WHEN IS THE FINAL BALANCE DUE?

Any time from one month to one week before the big day. Happy to take payment in instalments.

• DO YOU SHOOT DESTINATION WEDDINGS?

YES. YES. YES. I love shooting destination weddings. In fact I love them so much I throw in a pre-wedding shoot on location one or two days before. I find these a great opportunity to get to know the couple a tiny bit more before the big day. My passport is always at the ready!

• WHAT IS YOUR REFUND / BOOKING FEE POLICY?

The booking fee / deposit secures the date, if this has not been paid within 7 days of sending out the contract, the date will be made available for someone else.

• DO YOU ONLY SHOOT WEDDINGS?

I shoot everything from lifestyle to editorial portraits. However weddings are by far the most fun!

• WHEN WILL I RECEIVE MY PHOTOS?

Anywhere from 4-6 weeks after the big day, depending on demand / season.

• ARE YOU INSURED?

Yes. For both public liability and professional indemnity.

• DO WE HAVE TO FEED YOU?

It's always nice but not compulsory! Weddings are long working days so I usually take a break around the time the guests are eating.

• WHAT STYLE OF PHOTOGRAPHY DO YOU OFFER? CAN WE SELECT?

My main aim is to provide you with a story of your day as it happened. Hence a candid / documentary approach is my default setting. That said I totally appreciate some group shots are simply part of the day, in which case I recommend around 8-12 group shots, ensuring you aren't taken away from the party for too long. Feel free to request anything specific, i'm very open and happy to discuss ideas.

• HOW WILL I RECEIVE MY PHOTOS?

You will receive your photos and slideshow film in a lovely little USB package plus several complimentary prints. The online gallery will be made available at the same time for you to share with friends and family. I can help you design an album and recommend some excellent suppliers.

• WILL YOU VISIT THE VENUE BEFORE THE BIG DAY?

Unless I have photographed the venue already, I will research the venue and give myself ample time on the day (or the night before if it's a destination wedding) to take a look around. My candid approach, and the fact I am a destination photographer, means I have vast experience in working with different venues no matter what shape or size.

• HOW MANY PHOTOGRAPHS DO YOU TAKE? CAN WE GET THEM ALL?

I will shoot all day taking as many images as I can however the total amount of images is always different. You should expect a minimum of 400 fully edited images. The full set of images can take hours to import, export and transfer, so there is a small charge of £50 if you should want the full set.

• DO YOU WORK WITH A SECOND PHOTOGRAPHER?

I usually prefer to work alone as this best suits my style of photography and ensures the wedding story remains consistent. It also allows me to be even more discreet and maintain a relaxed approach. However I totally appreciate there are occasions where perhaps the groom might fancy some shots in the morning, the couple want to ensure not a moment is missed, or it's a particularly big wedding, so a second photographer can be provided and I have a couple I work with regularly.

• WE'RE USELESS IN FRONT OF THE CAMERA, DO YOU PROVIDE ADVICE / GUIDANCE?

You wouldn't believe how much I hear that... Especially from the grooms! It's absolutely nothing to worry about. After we meet you will realise i'm incredibly relaxed and easy-going. I have ways of working with a variety of different clients and you'd be amazed at how easy it is on the day. It's often the moments in-between the 'poses' that provide the real gold! Aside from the couple snaps I work my socks off to capture those lovely natural shots of you both without even knowing i'm there.
